How did you become involved in YWD? I became involved with Youth With Diabetes after seeing my new diabetes educator at the time Hester Davel who told me about these camps and what they do, and that I should join them. I enjoyed it so much that I started helping out at the camps and then finally got the chance to go on the Youth Leader Training Camp earlier in 2014.
What do you believe is the biggest issue in diabetes in South Africa? I believe the biggest issue in South Africa regarding diabetes is that not a lot of people know about diabetes and what it’s all about. Many people have misconceptions regarding diabetes.
What do you plan to achieve for 2014/15 in YWD as an NEC member? My plan for 2014/15 as an NEC member is to create awareness in south Africa about diabetes and educate the public on what diabetes really is.
